my tbr for the next 10 :P

These next few years, I have a goal of getting into reading more. Ever since I was little, I was a massive bookworm. I mean, I would go through books like crazy, reading one every 2 weeks, and the best part was, I actually loved doing it. I didn't get a reward or anything out of it -- i simply loved to read. Although that passion has slowly dissipated over the years, I want to start it back up now - especially as I enter a new chapter of my life. Here's a list of the next 10 books I hope to read over the next 10 years :D

#1: Freshman Year of College - How To Know A Person

This year will be full of building connections as I enter a new era of life. I will be meeting new people, networking, and overall, trying to fit in even when I feel like I can't. Creating a good circle around you filled with people who motivate and inspire you can be hard, especially in such a new environment, so I want to spend some time working on this. One thing I really hope towards working is building up my confidence to be able to introduce and converse with people freely, and this book explores some of those themes. I hope to retain this knowledge and continue it further as I move through college.

#2: Sophomore Year of College - Atomic Habits

This next year, the awkward, transition phase will be over. I will need to build up my habits and create a structured schedule that works for me. Atomic Habits talks about strengthening your habits to be effective and purposeful, creating a flow that works for you. Procrastination is something I often struggle with, so reading this will help me get over this and hopefully fall into a rhythm so I can stay locked in.

#3: Junior Year of College - The Art Of Letting Go

By this time in my life, I will have a pretty crazy life in front of me -- a mix of academics, relationships and way more. My mind will probably be jumbled with all the stuff its trying to hold, and sometimes, I may end up holding onto to things that don't provide any value to me anymore. This was something I also struggled with in high school, so I hope to work towards this in college. The Art of Letting Go explores the idea of freeing oneself from an attachment that may of negative purpose, often oblivious to the person itself. Reading this will help me reorganize the chaos in my mind, and bring about a sense of calm that is much needed.

#4: Senior Year of College: Big Magic

Finally. My last year of College. It's definitely been one heck of a journey, and by this time, I will be ending my last year hopefully on a good note. This year, I want to focus on stepping out of my comfort zone -- taking that extra leap. This book explores the idea of embracing your inner creativity, and letting curiosity, not fear drive your actions. I also will be starting my med school applications, so this would be a great way to step out of my bounds and try new experiences without worrying about fear taking over.

#5: Gap Year For Med School : Siddharta

This year in my life, I will probably be taking a gap year to prepare myself for the scariness of med school that is about to follow. That is, strengthen my applications with impressive research, clinical experiences, and etc. However, throughout this, I am bound to come across frurstration of feeling lost and hopelesss. Siddhartha, a book I read once a long time ago in my amazing 12 Lit class, talks about the idea of the individual experience in finding one's path, and how enlightenment is found not through specific lessons or actions, but through life itself and its experiences. Reading this will help motivate me to keep going until I find my path (fingers crossed!)

#6: First Year of Med School: Taking Smart Risks

By this time, I will hopefully be entering my first year of med school, probably a nervous wreck. However, I will need to learn how to take risks and put myself out there. I need to be able to overcome my fears and open myself up to new experiences, and reading this will help with that! This book explores how to make calculated decisions towards your goals by taking risks, while still being mindful and considering the positives with the negatives.

#7: Second Year of Med School: Death of A Salesman

This year, I will hopefully be getting into a good groove, having an efficient yet balanced strucutre for myself to follow. I would like to read DOAS, as this book talks about the idea of unrealistic expectations, and how relaity vs. illusion can alter one's perceptions. It talks about needing others' validation for yourself. Reading this will help me create realistic yet still motivating goals for myself throughout med school to follow and work towards, keeping me on my toes.

#8: Third Year of Med School: Psychology of Money

By this year in my life, I will probably need to start making some money LOL (let's be honest). Throughout high school, I hope to take some finance classes on the side to keep myself educated on the world of money and how to manage it properly. Morgan Housel perfectly encapsulates these ideas in his book in his book, Psychology of Money, and how to stay efficient with your money as you move forward, spending it wisely whiel still having a good balance.

#9: Last year of Med School: From Failure to Success

My last year of med school! This year, I will be graduating, hoping to match into a residency. All that I have worked for down to this moment. With this, lots of success and failures will come, and I will need to be able to navigate thorugh this while still keeping my chin up. This book talks about how to deal with failure in a way that still helps you achieve success, and reading this will be important in motivating me to keep going after what I love, and not succumbing to the obstacles along the way.

#10: First Year of Residency: Give and Take

This year, I will finally be able to work and do what I truly love -- help people.  This has been one of my dreams since I was a young girl, and this year, I will finally get to actually do it! This book is the perfect way to reflect on this -- it explores the idea of giving back and helping those around you --- not for a reward but for yourself. Reading this will help me alter my perspective on life, and give back to the community that gave so much to me all these years :)
